My solution to the illegal immigrants - don't send them back to Mexico....

Instead send them to.....Antartica - or the South Pole with no protection from the cold but soaking wet coats, hats and gloves.......send them to a deserted island...........one that has no trees or anything..........with nothing but canned food and no can openner...........

A word to those immigrants here legally - you moan and groan at the unfairness as do the "rights" activists........I have to ask what about the rights of the victims who have been robbed, rapped or murdered?

Why don't I hear you speaking out against the criminals? True all races do the same crimes but the majority of the crimes are commited by illegal immigrants.

Want my sympathy and support? Then start turning in those criminals you so proudly protect - hey you need money some of them may just have a cash reward.

Continue to protect them means you give them more rights them the victims these criminals harm.

You commit a crime you deserve to be placed in jail.

Criminals are cowards and nothing more than that and if you hide criminals to protect them you are no better than they are and are criminals too.

I have the perfect solution for the Immigration Problem!

Instead of spending $90,000.00- $100,000.00 to incarcerate each illegal immigrant when they commit a serious crime, I have the perfect solution! It would only cost .50 cents for each illegal immigrant. Buy a bullet for each one of those spics! Everytime one commits a crime, put a bullet through thier brains! Its cost effective. Just think how many billions of U.S. Dollars in tax money we could save. Then our police and fire departments won't be so overloaded. Our hospitals won't be so verloaded and forced to shut down. Did you know that an average of 12 American citizens die everyday due to crimes commited by illegals? An additional 13 Americans die due to drunk illegal drivers! Thats 25 people that die everyday, 175 a week, 700 a month, 8400 a year! Thats more the we ever lost to date in the war in the middle east!!! There are also over 2,800 illegal immigrants that are child molesters! On average, each have 6-12 victims each! I just shudder in thinking on how many victims are out there! So I say, just shoot them, put a bullet in thier heads. That would solve the problem real quick!

Telemarketers.......
Two years ago,I bought a car. With that car,I bought an extended warranty which expired recently as I past 80K miles. For the last 2-3 months,I've been getting 3-4 calls per day telling me 'dont drive without warranty coverage','it's not too late to extend your coverage',and so on. I have always listened till the end of the call,so I can press 2 or 9 or whatever number it is to make them stop calling me. I've 'removed' myself from this list at least 50 times now,BUT THEY KEEP FUCKING CALLING ME. Next time you fuckers call me,the phone is coming out of the wall,and THROUGH YOUR MOTHERFUCKIN WINDOW

Interesting Statistics. Here are 14 reasons illegal aliens should vacate America, and I hope they are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them:

1. $11 billion to $22 billion dollars are spent each year on welfare to illegal aliens.

2. $2.2 billion dollars are spent each year on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens

3. $2.5 billion dollars are spent each year on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

4. $12 billion dollars are spent each year on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!

5. $17 billion dollars are spent each year for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

6. $3 Million Dollars PER DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

7. 30% percent of all federal prison inmates are illegal aliens.

8. $90 billion dollars are spent each year on illegal aliens for welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.

9. $200 billion dollars per year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US.

11. During the year 2005, there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our southern border with as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from terrorist countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroine, and marijuana crossed into the U.S. from the southern border.

12. The National Policy Institute, estimates that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion, or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period.

13. In 2006, illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin.

14. The dark side of illegal immigration: Nearly one million sex crimes are committed by illegal immigrants in the United States!" http://www.drdsk.com/articles.html

The total cost is a whopping $338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!!!

Need I say more?? OH by the way this is the same person some dumb jerk called a fag..........and felt he had to "educated" me........

We spend more money on illegals children's education then we do on our own childrens (those who are here legally) education. OUR children go hungry, and lack a proper education. Over crowded schools because there are not enough teachers.

Bottled Water Problems

Making bottles to meet Americans’ demand for bottled water required more than 17 million barrels of oil last year – enough fuel more than 1 million U.S. cars for a year - and generated more than 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide (Source: Pacific Institute).

McCain supports Hezbollah

The campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., removed a man from his Michigan Finance Committee today.

It started after conservative writer Debbie Schussel called Michigan businessman Ali Jawad not only a supporter of Hezbollah -- a group the US State Department labels a "terrorist organization" -- but also claimed he was a "key agent of the terrorist group in the Detroit area."

So McCain is a Panamanian and a terrorist sympathizer? Who would have thought?

A Suggestion ......

I said this once before....
but it needs to be said again:

When your unhappy and serious about an issue,
Posting RANTS to craigslist CK Boards fall on death ears.
Even if you posted your comment to every CL Board in the world it wouldn't matter, not enough audience.

So, the way to get your message out is ...
1) Post your comments to an ongoing BLOG Forum or Start your own Blog and link to others - Google provides FREE Blogs and they are idiot proof anyone can use them.
I posted this to Phx CL and Here!

2) Create a website, you must buy a domain, normal cost is about Ten Dollars per year. Websites are often provided free but come with ads. You still have to do the HTML or other format yourself.
Note: If you are building a website don't pay more than $300.00 for it unless it involved things like Flash, Shopping Carts, etc. That should include a simply logo, about 15 pictures, email contact, and write-up that you prepare.
Personally I recommend the Blog concept unless it is a business, then a Website is needed.

3) Create and upload a YouTube Video. The growing audience here proves this is effective for viewing but doesn't get anything local per se unless you just want to piss some politician off. I have been chasing this dumb ass local politician about a utility issue off and on for two years. He is a dilatant. So I have decided I will call his office one more time on Monday, and give his sorry ass 5-business days to fix he problem (issue). If he doesn't I will put his name and details and the subject of his incompetence on YouTube.

People this is an election year, it is the only time we have to get these lazy ass do nothing ne’er-do-wells attention.

Get off your lazy duffs and get busy.
Make these politicians sorry they didn't perform.

re, websites, blogs, youtube

Two people emailed me about my post from yesterday, sorry I don't answer emails ....
But here is the answer both of you asked me:

Where can I get a FREE Website?
http://www.godaddy.com
offers free websites if you purchase the domain name from them.
They put up ad banners on the page, that's why the website is FREE.
Think up a name or title for your website domain name, search it using godaddy and see if it is available.
ONLY get a .com address the rest are pretty useless.
Most serach engines (how people find you on the Internet) are geared to look for .com extension domain addresses first.
Websites in most cases are no longer practical unless you are doing a business.
If you are doing a business, you don't want to use a FREE website.

Getting a BLOG started ....
As I stated Google offers FREE Blogs....
Go here, to get your FREE Blog started ...
https://www.blogger.com/start
The requirement is you must have an email address (any will do).
Blogs are pretty easy to do.
You can put up YouTube Videos, your own videos, pictures, and text.
YES you can sell things through a Google BLOG.
You can even sign up for Google Ad Sense, where Google pays you to advertise on your Blog.

Whether you choose a Website or a Blog or both, they will have to be registered with at least the 3 main Search Engines - MSN, Yahoo. and Google.
The other Search Engines will pick them up over a 6-month period.
To register with Yahoo you will need a Yahoo email address.
If you are doing a business try and have your email address match your domain name and match your Blog Title. It makes it easier for the Search Engines to identify you.

I hope this helps.
Good Luck

FBI: Suspected pipe bomb damages courthouse in San Diego
A suspected pipe bomb exploded at a federal courthouse in downtown San Diego early Sunday, damaging the front entrance and blowing out a window, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
Few people were around the building, which is a block from nightclubs in the Gaslamp Quarter, when the powerful blast also damaged the lobby area of the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Courthouse about 1:40 a.m., said FBI spokeswoman April Langwell.
The bomb was reported by two guards in the building, who were uninjured. About 40 agents combed the front courtyard after the area was swept for explosives. No arrests have been made.
Debris was found lodged in a window about eight stories up the AT&T building that faces the courthouse.
Authorities said that surveillance cameras outside the building may provide information, but that no cameras directly face the doorway.
Streets in the area have been closed during the investigation. The courthouse will remain closed Monday as repairs are made.

stop voting for sales tax increases

The inflation rates makes no difference on sales tax revenue because even though you receive more dollars, those dollars do not translate to more purchasing power because the cost of goods has increased, so it's a wash, negated, zeroed out. A non factor basically.

My Great-aunt had a saying, "Crows Ain't Ready!" She would say it anytime a black person did something particularly stupid. She died in 1991 when i was 23 years old or thereabouts. I use to ask her what she meant and she would only say that one day i would know. Well it took me about 3 years and some change for me to figure it out. What she meant was that black folks were one of their own worst enemies, they destroy their own progress and want more responsibility than they are ready to handle. She meant that as long as emotion had control over logic black folks would undoubtedly take 1 step forward and 2 back. Until we understand the phrase business is business we had no hope of succeeding.

McCain launches Spanish Website:

John McCain woos Hispanics and launches Spanish a web site Monday May 5, 2008

Reuters News is reporting that John McCain reached out to Hispanic voters on Monday as he sought to win over a constituency that has moved away from his Republican Party but could prove key in swing states in a close U.S. presidential election in November.

The Arizona senator's campaign launched a Spanish language Web site to mark the Mexican Cinco de Mayo festival and McCain told reporters that "everything about our Hispanic voters is tailor-made to the Republican message."

"I am confident that I will do very well," he said. "I know their patriotism, I know the respect for the family, the advocacy for pro-life, I know the small business aspect of our Hispanic voters."

Bush praises Mexican Americans at Cinco de Mayo dinner

WASHINGTON DC - President Bush wished a gathering of dinner guests a "Feliz Cinco de Maya" Monday in his final White House celebration of the Mexican holiday slightly erring in his Spanish, but serving up a reminder of how he snared Hispanic votes in the last presidential election.

While the heated immigration debate has caused some strain between the United States and Mexico, Bush was more conciliatory Monday. He said Cinco de Mayo is a chance to prove the two countries are "connected by more than geography." He referred correctly to the day, Cinco de Mayo, in other parts of his brief speech.

"We share an interest in making sure our people are prosperous and safe," Bush said of Mexico. "In America, we deeply value the culture and contributions of Mexican Americans. The United States is a richer place, a more vibrant place because people who claim Mexican heritage are now called United States citizens. We consider ourselves fortunate that Mexico is a friend and a neighbor."

Brightly colored "papel picado" intricately cut tissue paper fluttered furiously in the spring breeze as the guests sat in the Rose Garden. The tables were covered with red tablecloths and decorated with centerpieces of tiny green flowers shaped into cacti.

The horns and guitars of Mariachi Campanas de America, a San Antonio-based band, resonated in the colonnade of the White House as the band's gold-trimmed black costumes and sombreros served as a backdrop for Bush's speech. The band later backed Spanish singer Shaila Durcal, who sang three songs for the crowd, including the Mexican classic "Volver, Volver."

Bush has held Cinco de Mayo celebrations since arriving at the White House in 2001, in part as a symbol of the priority he gave the U.S. relationship with Mexico and his effort to curry favor with the Hispanic community.

But as he departs, the Republican Party is anxious about losing Hispanic votes in the November elections. Some Hispanics feel anti-immigrant sentiment has become anti-Hispanic as well.

In Phoenix on Monday, Republican John McCain acknowledged the focus on illegal immigration during the GOP primary had hurt his party's image among Hispanics.

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Cinco de Mayo was a reminder that "the American dream is still out of reach for too many Latinos." Rival Hillary Clinton criticized Bush's policies of "neglect and broken promises" toward Mexico and said the holiday was a chance to recognize mutual goals shared with Mexican Americans.

About 200 people attended the White House dinner. Among them were Mexican American Antonio Garza, the U.S. ambassador to Mexico; Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, a Cuban American; and Columba Bush, a Mexican American who is the wife of Bush's brother Jeb.

The Robot
John was a salesman's delight when it came to any kind of unusual gimmick. His wife Marsha has long ago given up trying to get him to change.

One day John came home about noon and told Marsha that he had gone to a nearby city and purchased a Robot. It was no ordinary robot, but it was in fact a Lie Detector. He said it had to charge 4 or 5 hours, and then he would show her how it worked.

At 5:30 that afternoon Tommy, their 11 year old son, came in from school, nearly 2 hours and 15 minutes late. Both parents were understandably angry. "Where have you been? Why are you over 2 hours late getting home?" they asked.

"Several of us went to the library to work on an extra credit project," said Tommy. The Robot walked around the table and slapped Tommy, knocking him completely out of his chair.

"Son, this robot is a lie detector, now tell us where you went after school."

"We went to Bobby's house and watched a movie."

"What did you watch?", asked Marsha.

"The Ten Commandments." The Robot went around to Tommy and once again slapped him, knocking him off his chair. With lip quivering, Tommy got up, sat down and said, "I am sorry I lied. We really watched a tape called Sex Queen."

"I'm ashamed of you Son,' said John. 'When I was your age, I never lied to my parents, never tried to see dirty pictures much less dirty movies, and never told dirty jokes." The robot walked around to John and delivered a roundhouse right that not only knocked him out of his chair, but out the back door and half way across the patio.

When he came back inside, Marsha was bent double laughing, almost in tears. "Boy, did you ever ask for that one! And you can't be too mad with Tommy. After all, he is your son!"

The Robot immediately walked around to Marsha and slapped the hell out of her.

Free Hospital Care
So, last month my son needed to go to the ER and get a few stitches. I have great insurance and I am a hard working single mom...born and raised in the United States and non-latina. Today, I get MY portion of the bill in the mail...the amount remaining after the insurance makes its contribution. I have to pay around $800 to cover the remainder of the bill.
I think from now on when I need to take one of my kiddies to the hospital I will say my name is Juanita Rosario Sanchez so that I can receive ALL of my medical care for FREE. After all, if I am Juanita all I do is have babies and live off the system. Juanita doesn't work hard to care for her kids...hell, Juanita doesn't even live here legally. Watch out Gilbert Mercey...from here on out I am Seniorita Sanchez...fix all my kids wounds as well as mine for free!!!

Mexicans are stealing manhole covers in Long Beach CA
Over 50 manhole covers have been stolen in the Long Beach area populated largely by Mexicans. They are turning up in metal recycling dumps. The Mexicans stuff them under the bulk of metal to add weight. They only get 10-15 per cover, but they cost over 500 dollars of YOUR TAXPAYER DOLLARS to replace! They hide 2-3 per pick up truck and make another 30-45 bucks, that's it.
Two cars have hit the open holes. Drivers did not go to the hospital, but the cars were seriously ruined. Broken axles, popped air bags. Just like the Mexicans stealing the copper wiring from street lights, these fuckers have NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE. They know what they are doing will cause an innocent person to crash and possibly die. For 30-45 bucks. The copper earns them hundreds. Cars traveling at 60 mph + drive down the freeway and suddenly it's dark, and accidents happen.

I'd call all those lying backstabbing Democrat assholes who turned their back on Hillary and tell them to bend over and pucker up ... because paybacks are hell.
Then I'd call that friggin idiot John Dean and tell him that either Hillary gets the nomination OR she will seek the Presidency as a third party candidate ...

This would do one of two things -
1) Either insure her the nomination with Obama as her running mate.
Or-
2) Insure John McCain the Presidency.

If she ran as a third party candidate, it would end the Democratic Party and send the Liberals packing, which would be good for America. After all, John McCain has all ready destroyed the Republican Party ...
Then maybe America could get back to real government where 80% of Americans are represented instead of the assholes either to the extreme left or extreme right.

If I Were Bill Clinton .... ((Give Them Hell))

Good post.

It is interesting to note that McCain, running unopposed, received less than 80% of the vote in IN and NC last night. Hell, less than 50% of Arizonians voted for him during the primary here.

Clinton will not run as a third party candidate. Obama is too strong, but the Clintons are twisting arms and busting balls as we speak/write.

re, If I Were Bill Clinton

very good post ...
I agree with the original poster, that the Clintons, notorious for underhanded schemes will do something to insure Hillary gets the nomination.
This is Hillary Clinton's last chance, she runs now or never because of her age, and the fact the Clinton legacy will be gone within 4-years.
One thing Hillary has going for her is the disenfranchised Florida and Michigan Voters the Democratic Party led by Dean, a true moron and liberal wants to ignore, but in a Presidential Election are crucial.
as for Barack Obama he is still young enough to wait even 8-years for his shot.
Democrats are too stupid to look into the future that's why America is failing and will continue to fail.

As for McCain I agree with the second poster, he is too old and just a stupid fart Liberal in conservative clothing. The extreme right probably won't even turn out to vote.

The Maricopa Harvester Ant ........
(Pogonomyrmex maricopa) is one of the most common species of harvester ant species found in Arizona,[1] and is considered the most venomous insect in the world.
Their nest mounds are likely to incorporate rocks and gravel. The ants construct cemented caps on the sand mound nests in a fine sand dune area. The caps are approximately 60% calcium carbonate that is transported from the underlying calcium carbonate layers, and protect the nest structure from being eroded away during high-wind periods. Partial erosion of the cemented caps adds calcium carbonate to the sand dune soils.

Pentagon: Ex-detainees returning to fight
Man freed from Guantanamo was suicide bomber in Iraq last month....More than 10 ex-detainees have been killed or captured in fighting, officials say
More than 500 have been released from Guantanamo.
WASHINGTON DC - A Kuwaiti man released from U.S. custody at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in 2005 blew himself up in a suicide attack in Iraq last month, Pentagon officials said Wednesday.
This photo of Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi was posted on a jihadist Web site.
Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi was one of two Kuwaitis who took part in a suicide attack in Mosul on April 26, the officials said. Records show that an attack in Mosul that day targeted an Iraqi police patrol and left six people dead, including two police officers.
An announcement on a jihadist Web site earlier this month declared that al-Ajmi was one of the "heroes" who carried out the Mosul operation. A second man from Kuwait also took part in the suicide attack, the Web site said.
Pentagon officials who had been keeping track of al-Ajmi said they were aware he had left Kuwait for Syria, a launching ground for terrorists into Iraq.
A video posted on various jihadist Web sites shows a number of images of al-Ajmi, followed by text reading, "May God have mercy on you Abdullah al-Ajmi. I send you a warm greeting O you martyr, O you hero, O you, a man in a time where only few men are left."
U.S. military records of Guantanamo detainees indicate that a man with the same name and nationality was held at the Cuban prison.
Those records said al-Ajmi, 29, was picked up in Afghanistan as he tried to enter Pakistan after the 2001 U.S. invasion. He claimed to have fought for the Taliban, the records show, and said he fought in a number of battles against the Northern Alliance.Though he was never charged with any crime, al-Ajmi was held at Guantanamo through 2005. Military documents show he later claimed that his statements about fighting for the Taliban were made after he was threatened while in U.S. custody. He asserted that he was in Afghanistan to study the Quran.
Al-Ajmi was transferred to the custody of Kuwaiti authorities in November 2005, with four other Kuwaitis, and was released after a trial there, according to Pentagon officials.
Al-Ajmi is not the first former Guantanamo detainee to reportedly return to the battlefield after being released. Pentagon officials say there are more than 10 people once held by the U.S. at Guantanamo who have been killed or captured in fighting after being released from the detention facility.
"Our reports indicate that a number of former [Guantanamo Bay] detainees have taken part in anti-coalition militant activities after leaving U.S. detention. Some have subsequently been killed in combat," said Cmdr. Jeff Gordon, a Pentagon spokesman.
Documents provided by the Pentagon show other former detainees returning to the battlefield, including Abdullah Mahsud, who was released from Guantanamo in 2004. He returned to Afghanistan, where he became a militant leader in the Mahsud tribe in southern Waziristan, the documents said.
"We have since discovered that he had been associated with the Taliban since his teen years and has been described as an al Qaeda-linked facilitator.
"In mid-October 2004, Mahsud directed the kidnapping of two Chinese engineers in Pakistan. During rescue operations by Pakistani forces, a kidnapper shot one of the hostages. Five of the kidnappers were killed. Mahsud was not among them," the documents provided by the Pentagon said.
"As these facts illustrate, there is an implied future risk to U.S. and allied interests with every detainee who is released or transferred from Guantanamo," Gordon said.
Reports of former detainees returning to the battlefield show they are dedicated to their cause and have been trained to be deceptive, the Pentagon officials said, but such factors will not prevent the release of other detainees from Guantanamo Bay.
Of the more than 500 detainees released from Guantanamo since the detention camp was opened in 2002, 38 have been stripped of their "enemy combatant" status and determined to pose no future threat to the United States. The remaining 462 were repatriated to home countries or resettled to third-party countries and still considered a threat, Pentagon records show.
Some countries have since released those detainees back into the public, according to various reports.
The United States is still holding about 65 detainees scheduled to be released to their home governments. But before that can happen, the United States has to get assurances the detainees will not be persecuted or harmed when they arrive home, Pentagon officials have said.
"We have no desire to be the world's jailer, which is why the 500 were allowed to depart," Gordon said.
There are about 270 detainees still held at the U.S. prison camp in Cuba.

Al Sharpton is a Liar

Here is the truth. Al Sharpton is a liar. He is without real credentials and is a Rev. in name only. Just like I can say I am a priest like Qui Chang Caine on Kung Fu if I want.

In the early 1980s the "rev" found an unwitting dupe to help him defraud the media. Her name was Tawana Brawley. She was an 18yo and she claimed she had been sexually assaulted by 3 white men.

The rev started into his black victim rhetoric and how the white man is always hurting the poor black man etc etc etc.

Tawana got instant celebrity and many gifts including $50K from noted racist Bill Cosby. The rev took charge of the money.

When Tawana didn't get the money to go shopping for shoes and pork chops etc, she got angry and came clean with the police telling the truth IE she lied and was told what to say by the rev big al (the liar) sharpton.

So if he was a liar then, he is still a liar and a man of low character. Aside from his black color he is nothing more than a professional VICTIM and a wannabe extortionist like the rev jesse Jackson.

It was jesse who was kicked out of the NAACP for payoffs to women with NAACP money to keep them quiet about his "indiscretions" with his dick. He is little more than a showboating rapist and extortionist. Google jessejackson and Coca Cola and read all about it. If he wasn't black he would be prosecuted under Rico.

It's a pity that the black race is all about ripping each other off and cheating and stealing. The only man of color that has any integrity is Kwisi Mifune who is now the head of the NAACP and a former US congressman.

In Cook county (Chicago) the largest single population of blacks in the USA. From which obama was elected, here is a statistic that will trouble U.

90% of all black males under the age of 21 R either incarcerated, out on bail awaiting trial, or out on probation. Think about that for a minute 90%. Now ask yourself this, is it the fault of white men that black men do not raise their kids?

NY man sues airline over flight spent in toilet

A New York man who says he was denied a seat on a five-hour jetBlue flight and was instead told to "hang out" in the plane's bathroom has sued the airline for $2 million, saying he suffered "extreme humiliation."
When Gokhan Mutlu arrived to check in for a jetBlue flight from San Diego to New York in February he was told the flight was full, according to the lawsuit filed in New York State Supreme Court.
But Mutlu was allowed to board after a jetBlue flight attendant agreed to give up her seat and travel in an airline employee "jump seat." It was not clear in the lawsuit whether the flight attendant was working.
However 90 minutes into the flight, the pilot told Mutlu the flight attendant was uncomfortable and he would have to give up his seat and "hang out" in the bathroom for the remainder of the flight, the lawsuit said.
The pilot "became angry at (Mutlu's) reluctance" and said Mutlu "should be grateful for being onboard," the lawsuit said. When Mutlu volunteered to sit in the "jump seat," he was told it was reserved for airline personnel.
At one point, the airplane experienced turbulence and Mutlu sat on the toilet seat without a seat belt, causing him "tremendous fear," the lawsuit said.
JetBlue was not immediately available for comment.

Mom-and-pop service stations are running into a problem as gasoline marches toward $4 a gallon: Thousands of old-fashioned pumps can't register more than $3.99 on their spinning mechanical dials.
The pumps, throwbacks to a bygone era on the American road, are difficult and expensive to upgrade, and replacing them is often out of the question for station owners who are still just scraping by.
Many of the same pumps can only count up to $99.99 for the total sale, preventing owners of some SUVs, vans, trucks and tractor-trailers to fill their tanks all the way.
As many as 8,500 of the nation's 170,000 service stations have old-style meters that need to be fixed about 17,000 individual pumps, said Bob Renkes, executive vice president of the Petroleum Equipment Institute of Tulsa, Okla.
At Chip Colville's Chevron station in this eastern Washington town, where men in the family have pumped gas since 1919, three stubby, gray pumps were installed when gas was less than $1 a gallon. They top out at $3.999, only 30 cents above the price of regular gas at Colville's station.
"In small towns, where you don't have the volume, there's no way you can afford to pay for the replacements for these old pumps," Colville said. "It's just not economically feasible."
The problem is worse in extremely rural areas, where "this might be the only pump in town that people can access," said Mike Rud, director of the North Dakota Petroleum Marketers Association.
Demand for replacements has caused a months-long backlog for companies that make or rebuild the mechanical meters and that's just for stations that can afford the upgrade.
For many station owners who, because of relatively small profit margin on gas, aren't raking in money even though gas prices are marching higher replacing the pumps altogether with electronic ones is just not an option.
"The new ones run between $10,000 and $15,000 apiece," Colville said. "It's an expense that's not worth it."
Mechanical meters can be retrofitted with higher numbers when pump prices climb another dollar. The last time that happened was in late 2005, when gas went over $3 a gallon, and owners of the older pumps installed kits that went to $3.999.
This time around, owners of the old pumps will need to install another kit that can handle prices up to $4.999, and possibly higher. Industry experts say those changes could cost as much as $650 per pump.
It costs less to change the meter to raise the maximum price from $2.99 to $3.99 a gallon, but that option raises the risk of a breakdown, said said Pete Turner, chief operating officer for APS Petroleum Equipment Inc. of Anniston, Ala.
"The computer that they're upgrading was not designed to go any more than what it's going now, and if you do it, they don't last long enough," Turner said. "They run so fast that the gears are wearing out."
The price of fixing the meters jumped in the past three years because old pumps are being phased out for new electronic pumps and demand for refurbished meters is down, Al Eichorn, vice president of PMP Corp., which makes the mechanical meters.
The Avon, Conn., company has hired extra employees who are working overtime but still has a 14-week backlog of orders, Eichorn said.
To deal with the problem, some state regulators are allowing half-pricing displaying the price for a half-gallon of gas, then doubling the price shown on the meter.
In North Dakota, regulators recently told service stations their mechanical pumps could use half-pricing, provided they use signs to alert costumers and find a permanent solution by April 2009.
South Dakota is preparing similar rules, officials say. And in Minnesota, rural service station owners whose pumps cannot display the right price are being told to cover up the incorrect numbers.
"The consumer can only see the gallons turning," said Bill Walsh, a spokesman for the Minnesota Department of Commerce. "Then they just have to settle up with a calculator, basically." Colville and about a dozen other service station owners in Washington have received temporary variances from the state to allow them to half-price fuel.
Stations granted variances are required to post signs telling customers that the final price they will pay is twice what the pump meter indicates.
"No, that don't bother me. The price does," said Jim Puls, a third-generation rancher who pulled up to Colville's diesel pump to fill up his flatbed truck at $4.41 a gallon. "I can understand what they have to do."
Nationally, the average price for a gallon of gasoline rose past $3.70 Sunday, while diesel was selling for an average of $4.33 a gallon, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
Small stations are struggling to make a profit on gas, even as the price rises. Its small profit margin makes it less lucrative that snacks and other products the stores sell inside.
"If gas is the profit driver and you are one of those guys with the old pumps, you're either evolving or getting out," said Jeff Lenard, spokesman for the National Association of Convenience Stores, a trade group that represents about 115,000 stores that sell gasoline.
"If you're just that kind of image of the '50s gas station where you have a conversation, fill up and have a cup of coffee, that's in the movies."

Why married ladies nag their husbands to death...
I just came out of a 25+ yr marriage with 2 great kids. I spoiled her to the best of my ability, jumped and completed around 85% of the jobs and chores and things that slipped into her head that made her feel good that she felt needed doing. She had an aweful childhood with an alcoholic father and a strange mother so I understand her short comings. I'm a typical guy, hate confrontation and just liked issues to go away, less stress and no need to yell. She hated me coming down home stretch in the last 3 yrs. I was an upstanding hubby, never smoked or drank or fooled around, stayed faithful, made good income, loved my kids, balanced job and home, but I was never good enough. Everything was my fault, most of my decisions were discarded, hers were always the best. A week after we split she called me and said she wanted to make it work again (she wanted the divorce) unfortunately it felt like 1000 lbs were off my shoulders and I could breathe again. I told her I know longer felt we should continue. She always acted as though she was above me. Our childhood plays a big part of our later relationships but we as youngsters don't always factor that in when we marry. We can change that person or make that persons life better because I grew up in a good loving home different than hers. There was sexual abuse by some family members on her side which was a sad thing and I always wanted to castrate them but I would be in jail now. I feel she needed control since she was not in control growing up. Sometime us guys just don't know what we are getting into. I'm now seeing a great lady whos husband passed away 2 yrs ago and she takes nothing for granted anymore. Any of her dreams have been ripped away from her. Her reality has been rocked so much that she is happy to live each day and not try to plan a new wedding or a new home or..or..or..or you get it. Just enjoy the company of each other taking one day ata time. It seems to be less stressful and as long as we stay friends and respect each others space and life we should do fine. Are we meant to be together with a mate forever? Maybe not. Just be kind to others and let alot of things slide.

Fox News is reporting ...
An Antarctic fur seal has been caught on camera trying to have sex with a penguin.
This seems to be the first known example of a sexual escapade between a mammal and another kind of vertebrate such as a bird, reptile or fish, "although some mammals are known to have attempted sexual relief with inanimate — including dead things — objects," said researcher Nico de Bruyn, a mammal ecologist at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
One summer morning, scientists observing elephant seals on a beach on Marion Island near the Antarctic spotted a young male Antarctic fur seal subduing a king penguin.
"At first we thought it was hunting the penguin, but then it became clear that his intentions were rather more amorous," de Bruyn recalled Monday via e-mail.
The roughly 240-pound fur seal — in fact a species of sea lion, rather than a true seal — subdued the 30-pound adult penguin by lying on it.
The hapless bird of unknown sex struggled, rapidly flapping its flippers and attempting to stand and flee, without luck.

When someone parks in two spaces (particularly in croweded lots), that person is telling all of us that we don't matter. That he/she is more important than any of us, and fuck you if you don't like it.
So, my advice. Write on the windshield. If you smoke, and the window is cracked, use the front seat as an ashtray. Spit on the door handle. Kick the mirror. I've actually printed up business cards that say:
"You parked this way to ensure that your car wasn't damaged, and now you get to spend the rest of the day wondering what, exactly, I did to your ride."
I agree that people can't be trusted. And I agree that a lot of people are complete tools who don't care who or what the hurt. But to just assume that everyone is an asswhole...to go to the extent that you take a parking space from others and, in doing so, announce to everyone that you think they are asswholes...
Well, we may be asswholes, but so is that person.
And that person deserves to have their car fucked up. Not only do they deserve it, but it's all our social obligation to make certain they receive that kind of treatment.

NEW YORK - There is an industry in this country that is making billions in profit while average Americans are struggling to fill up their gas tanks.
It's an industry that made an average profit of nearly 17 percent in 2007 while most Americans could barely keep up with inflation.
It's an industry whose members paid a grand total of zero dollars in tax on their endowments last year.
Are you outraged? Are you ready to call on Congress to investigate or demand that a "windfall" tax be placed on these egregious profits?
Well put down the phone because the industry I'm talking about is Higher Education. And make no mistake, it is an industry.
The top five college and university endowments reported a combined value of over $100 billion at the end of 2007. That's five funds, a hundred billion in cash. Not a nickel in tax. Not an ounce of outrage.
Harvard University, which has the largest endowment in the country, has a total of $34.6 billion. To put into perspective just how much money that is, consider that the largest charitable foundation in the world, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has a total endowment of $37.3 billion.
But while their financial statements may look similar, their missions aren't. The Gates Foundation is working to cure malaria, develop new tuberculosis vaccines, and stop the spread of AIDS. Most of our colleges and universities are only working to spread the radical political views of some of their professors.
Let me be clear: I have absolutely no problem with Harvard or any other school having billions in cash. In fact, good for them!
I have no problem with Harvard posting an unbelievable 23 percent rate of return on their money last year. The truth is, I'm jealous of it.
I have no problem with the fact that if you project Harvard's endowment out using their historical rate of return they would have over half a TRILLION dollars in 20 years.
I don't even have a problem with Harvard not paying one dime of tax on any of that money.
What I do have a problem with and it's a big one is how Harvard spends that money. Or, maybe it would be more accurate to say how Harvard, doesn't spend that money.
Schools with large endowments (at least $500 million) reported spending an average of 4.4 percent of their stockpiles in 2007. Meanwhile, those same schools made an average of over 19 percent on their money.
But I also have another problem, and that is how these sanctimonious institutions who are so good at complaining about the injustices of our government are nothing but really highly educated hypocrites.
For what's been estimated to be about $300 million a year (less than 1 percent of their endowment's value) Harvard could completely waive tuition, room and board for every single one of their students. Instead, they announced an increase in those fees of about 3.5 percent for next year. Being a student at Harvard will now cost a staggering $47,215 a year.
Doesn't Harvard know how many millions of Americans are struggling to afford college? Don't they want to pay their fair share and help those who are less fortunate?
Some politicians in Massachusetts who can't stand to see so many billions dangling just out of their reach, have proposed a new tax on large university endowments. They don't have a cute name for it yet, so let's call it an "endowment windfall tax."
Under their proposal, all endowments over a billion dollars would be taxed at 2.5 percent, a rate any wealthy individual or corporation would salivate over. The tax would net the state over $1.4 billion a year, which is a lot of money considering that Boston currently receives about $1.8 million a year from the school.
So how did Harvard, which is basically the Exxon-Mobil of higher education (minus the accusations of price-gouging), react to that proposal? In a word, conservatively.
"You'd be taxing success here," Kevin Casey, Harvard's associate vice president for government, community and public affairs complained in a quote that will soon be framed and hung in my office. "Over time, this would put us at a real competitive disadvantage, which would drastically hurt the Commonwealth."
No Kevin, you're looking at it the wrong way. These politicians aren't trying to hurt you, they're just trying to level the playing field. Greater Shrewsbury Liberal Arts Community Technical College for Women down the road is struggling and here you are making billions. If they could just redistribute some of your profits to GSLACTCFW then everybody would be happy.
Does anyone else find it ironic that universities overflowing with liberal professors (a 2005 study revealed that 72 percent of professors view themselves that way) embrace conservative values only when it suits them?
As a conservative, I don't believe in taxing anyone just because they have a lot of money or are an easy target. That applies to individuals, businesses and universities. I believe that taxing success discourages success, and that's not what America stands for.
But I also believe in something else: consistency and accountability. And that's where most of our colleges and universities fail miserably.
Besides, Harvard, you're in the wealthiest 1 percent. Isn't it time to help those who are less fortunate?

WHERE DO REDHEADED BABIES COME FROM?

After their baby was born, the panicked father went to see the obstetrician "Doctor," the man said, "I don't mind telling you, but I'm a little upset because my daughter has red hair. She can't possibly be mine."

"Nonsense," the doctor said. "Even though you and your wife both have black hair, one of your ancestors may have contributed red hair to the gene pool."

"It isn't possible," the man insisted. "This can't be, our families on both sides had jet-black hair for generations."

"Well," said the doctor, "let me ask you this: how often do you have sex?"

The man seemed a bit ashamed. "I've been working very hard for the past year. We only made love once or twice every few months."

"Well, there you have it!" The doctor said confidently. "It's rust."

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - President Bush failed to win the help he sought from Saudi Arabia to relieve skyrocketing American gas prices Friday, a setback for the former Texas oilman who took office predicting he would jawbone oil-producing nations to help the U.S.

Bush got a red-carpet welcome to this desert kingdom, home to the world's largest oil reserves, and promised to ask King Abdullah to increase production to reduce pressure on prices, which soared past $127 for the first time Friday. But Saudi officials said they already were meeting the needs of their customers worldwide and there was no need to pump more.

Their answer recalled Bush's trip to Saudi Arabia in January when he urged an increase in production but was rebuffed.

Saudi oil minister Ali al-Naimi said the kingdom decided on May 10 to increase production by 300,000 barrels a day to help meet U.S. needs after Venezuela and Mexico cut back deliveries.

"Supply and demand are in balance today," al-Naimi told a news conference, bristling at criticism from the U.S. Congress. "How much does Saudi Arabia need to do to satisfy people who are questioning our oil practices and policies?"

Early this week, Senate Democrats introduced a resolution to block $1.4 billion in arms sales to Saudi Arabia unless Riyadh agreed to increase its oil production by 1 million barrels per day.

Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal said the discussion with Bush about oil was friendly. "He didn't punch any tables or shout at anybody," the minister said. "I think he was satisfied."

That couldn't be said for at least one of the candidates hoping to succeed Bush in January. Said Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton: "I think it's very important that we do something more dramatic than going to have tea with the Saudis."

National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said consumers would not see dramatic price reductions. Oil experts agreed.

Bernard Picchi, an energy analyst at Wall Street Access, an independent research firm, called the 300,000 barrel Saudi production increase "a token amount."

It would be different, he said, if Saudi Arabia boosted production by 1 million or 1.5 million barrels a day. The announced increase will have Saudi Arabia pumping 9.45 million barrels a day by June, Saudi officials said. That's about 2 million barrels below its capacity. Analysts also discounted the impact of the U.S. Energy Department's announcement that it would cancel shipments into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve for six months beginning July 1.

"It's ridiculous because I don't think this is going to bring the price down," said Phil Flynn, analyst at Alaron Trading Corp., of the Energy Department's move.

Midway through a five-day Mideast trip that began in Israel and ends in Egypt, Bush spent the day with Abdullah at his weekend retreat outside the capital. It is known as a horse farm since the king maintains 150 Arabian stallions there. The farm also produces thousands of goats and sheep, bred for the king's royal banquets.

The sagging U.S. economy and painful gasoline prices are the top concerns of Americans in the heart of a heated presidential campaign. The run-up in oil prices has been alarming.

Futures prices of crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange have more than doubled in the past year, from $62.46 a barrel in the first week of May, 2007. Prices reached $100 a barrel for the first time in February and continued rising. They closed at $126.29 Friday.

On Jan. 26, 2000, during a presidential debate, Bush opposed taking oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and instead said then-President Clinton should "jawbone" oil producing nations. That week crude oil prices were $28 a barrel.

Hadley said the Saudis briefed Bush on plans to increase their production capacity. They also argued that even an increase would be unlikely to bring down the soaring prices, which they said were driven more by uncertainty in the market, lack of refining capacity for the type of oil readily available and other complicated dynamics.

Economists say prices are being driven up by increased demand, not slow production. China and India are stretching supplies as they use ever increasing amounts of energy.

Hadley suggested the White House was satisfied with or at least accepted the Saudi response. However, he said the Bush administration will see if the explanation "conforms to what our experts say."

Hadley said Bush and the king also focused on Iran and concern about recent violence in Lebanon, where Hezbollah overran Beirut neighborhoods last week in protest of measures by the U.S.-backed government. The display of military power by the Shiite militant group, which the U.S. considers a terrorist organization, resulted in the worst internal fighting since the end of Lebanon's 1975-90 civil war.

Sunni-dominated Saudi Arabia eager to stop any advance of regional power by Shiite-dominated Iran joins the West in supporting Lebanon's government. Hadley said Bush and Abdullah shared a concern that the recent events would "embolden Iran." The U.S. and Saudi Arabia, he said, "are of one mind in condemning what Hezbollah did."

On Thursday, Hezbollah and the Lebanese government reached a deal to end the violence after Lebanon's Cabinet reversed measures aimed at the militants.

Bush's visit was billed as a celebration of 75 years of U.S.-Saudi relations, though they have been frayed by Arab perceptions that Washington favors Israel too much in the dispute with the Palestinians, the Iraq war and the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The two countries used the occasion of Bush's visit to sign new agreements.

Among them was an agreement for the U.S. to assist the kingdom in developing civilian nuclear power. Another involves U.S. promises to help protect any Saudi nuclear infrastructure with training, the exchange of experts "and other support services as needed." Hadley said it would not involve U.S. troops.

Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal, at the news conference with the oil minister, said he shared Bush's hope for a Mideast peace agreement by next January but sharply criticized Israel for the "humanistic suffering weighed upon the West Bank and Gaza Strip population" of Palestinians. He said Israel's "continued policy of expanding settlements on Palestinian territories" undermines the peace process.

SAN FRANCISCO - The California Supreme Court ruling legalizing gay marriage will not be the last word.
California voters will almost certainly hold a referendum on a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in November, and for the first time anywhere in the U.S., the vote will have a direct and immediate effect on gay couples waiting to tie the knot.
The amendment needs a simple majority to pass, and if the voters reject gay marriage, their decision will supersede the high court's. There are signs the contest's outcome will be close.
It will certainly be costly — the two sides say they plan to spend at least $25 million combined on the campaign.
"The people who want to defeat the amendment are going to have to work very hard to be successful — harder than the people who want the amendment to pass," said Charles Gossett, a California State University-Pomona political scientist who has analyzed a decades worth of poll numbers on the issue. "But I don't think its impossible."
Though the state has a history of being on the vanguard of gay rights, California residents have polled slightly against same-sex rights in recent years.
The most recent polls, conducted in 2006 and 2007, found that 51 percent and 49 percent of survey respondents opposed making gay marriage legal, while 43 percent and 45 percent endorsed the idea.
Those numbers have remained virtually unchanged since former Gov. Gray Davis signed legislation in 2003 giving registered domestic partners the same rights and benefits as married spouses and since same-sex marriage became legal in Massachusetts in 2004, according to Gossett.
Proponents of the November initiative marriage think the court's 4-3 ruling will hit closer to home and galvanize moderate voters who don't mind gay couples entering into domestic partnerships, but want marriage reserved for a man and a woman.
"You may find even increased support from 2000," when an anti-gay marriage referendum passed easily, said Andrew Pugno of the California Marriage Protection Act campaign. "With this court decision, the need for the marriage amendment is brought into clearer focus."
Mindful of the defeat suffered by gay marriage opponents two years ago in Arizona — the only state where voters have rejected a marriage amendment — the sponsors deliberately decided against trying to simultaneously repeal domestic partner rights, which two-thirds of California voters support.
The secretary of state still must verify the initiative, a decision expected next month.
Groups from across the nation already are pledging resources to defeat or support the measure, similar to gay marriage bans enacted in 26 other states. Colorado-based Focus on the Family and the Democratic Congressional Committee both donated funds during the signature-gathering phase.
The California Conference of Catholic Bishops will not take a position on the measure until it qualifies for the ballot, but "it is obviously an issue they will support," said spokeswoman Carol Hogan. The church's position could be a key factor with Latino voters, who have been registering in greater numbers, Gossett said. The pope reiterated his opposition to gay unions on Friday.
Gossett also noted that survey respondents often give what they consider to be politically correct answers on social questions such as gay marriage, but record their true beliefs at the ballot box. A month before 61 percent of California voters approved the 2000 marriage ban, only 52 percent of likely voters told pollsters they favored the proposition.
Corey Cook, a political scientist at the University of San Francisco, said other demographic and political changes will be in play during a presidential election that has attracted the interest of younger voters who tend to be much more accepting of gay relationships.
"We have a different electorate than we did eight years ago. They're more inclined to vote against the constitutional amendment," Cook said.
Perhaps more importantly, Californians this time might have witnessed hundreds of gay marriages by November. Opponents of gay marriage will ask the high court to stay Thursday's decision, but the court is not obligated to do so.
If gay marriages become a reality this summer, Cook said, voters will be faced with the choice of disappointing their neighbors and relatives. Some think that will only happen in San Francisco but Cook disagreed.
"People who live in Fresno are going to know gay people who are going to be married," he said.

Alabama sheriffs feed inmates on $1.75 a day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Back in the day of chain gangs, Alabama passed a law that gave sheriffs $1.75 a day to feed each prisoner in their jails, and the sheriffs got to pocket anything that was left over. More than 80 years later, most Alabama counties still operate under this system, with the same $1.75-a-day allowance, and some sheriffs are actually making money on top of their salaries.
But exactly how much is something of a mystery because state auditors do not have access to sheriffs' private accounts.
How could anyone turn a profit feeding men and women for an entire day on less than the price of a Coke and a bag of Fritos? Sheriffs practice Depression-style frugality and rely on such things as day-old bread, cut-rate vegetables and cheap inmate labor.
Critics charge that Alabama is, in effect, paying law enforcement to skimp on food and may be rewarding sheriffs for mistreating prisoners.
"It's a bad system, and it ought not be that way," said Buddy Sharpless, executive director of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama.
A prisoner advocate said he constantly hears complaints about jail food.
"Most of it is like powdered food, and the portions are minimal in the county jails," said the Rev. Kenneth Glasgow, who visits Alabama jails to register prisoners to vote.
The few sheriffs who would discuss the arrangement defended it as cost-effective for their counties and disputed any suggestion they are making a lot of money.
"If you've got the most lucrative food account in the state, you're not getting rich," said Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely.
They noted, too, that it's not all gravy for them: The system makes them personally liable for budget shortfalls and, possibly, lawsuits over jail food.
The head of the Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts, Ron Jones, said state auditors cannot determine how much some sheriffs are making off the system because the lawmen put the money in personal accounts.
In Morgan County, which includes Decatur, a state audit found that Sheriff Greg Bartlett spent $163,991 feeding inmates and personally received an additional $103,947 for two years ending in May 2005. But Jones said there was no way for auditors to determine how much of the money that went to the sheriff was profit, because sheriffs may be buying food out of their own pockets. Bartlett did not return calls for comment.
When Etowah County Sheriff James Hayes died in October, thousands of dollars in jail food money went to his estate because it was kept in his personal accounts.
His successor, Todd Entrekin, said he and his wife took out a personal loan for $150,000 the day he took office to purchase jail food until his first state payment came through.
"It's the most money I've ever borrowed in my life, even more than for my house," Entrekin said.
According to legislative researchers, the $1.75-a-day-per-inmate system in Alabama dates to 1927, back when sheriffs and other county officeholders in many states were paid fixed fees for services performed and were allowed to keep whatever was left over.
All but 12 of Alabama's 67 county jails remain on the fee system, with the state paying a total of $5 million to 55 sheriffs last year.
National corrections groups said they do not know of any other states with a system like Alabama's, though some individual counties may use a fee system.
The $1.75 fee was fairly generous at the time, with a reasonable profit built into it for the sheriffs. Besides the $1.75, sheriffs get additional state payments of as much as $11.25 a day for the entire jail. But in a jail with hundreds of inmates, that works out to just a few extra pennies per person for food.
By comparison, the government pays schools $2.47 for serving a single free meal under the National School Lunch Program for low-income students.
Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said he has figured out how to feed prisoners on $1.75 a day and still turn a little profit, and he doesn't get complaints about the grub.
"These people eat better here than they eat on the street, and they eat three times a day," Shaver said.
He said he is constantly on the lookout for good deals on food, pays two cooks and supplements their work with trusty labor, and wastes nothing, turning today's leftovers tomorrow's soup.
Blakely, the Limestone County sheriff, said he searches for deals on fresh vegetables, eggs and milk. Prisoners get three meals on weekdays, two on weekends and holidays. "They get a lot of beans, but we feed them meat every day," Blakely said.
The menu on a recent day in the Limestone County Jail was two pancakes and syrup, sausage and milk for breakfast; peanut butter sandwiches, chips and Kool-Aid for lunch; and white beans, turnip greens, fried squash, cornbread and sweet tea for dinner.
Blakely and Shaver would not say exactly how much money they make off the jail food system but said it is not a lot. Entrekin said he has not been sheriff long enough to say whether he is turning a profit for himself.
Blakely said prisoners who enter the jail late at night on charges such as drunken driving and make bail early the next day without eating a meal help the bottom line because the state pays for two days of food $3.50 without the sheriff having to spend a cent.
Inmate William Howell said state prisons offer more food than Blakely's jail. But he said the food in state prison isn't nearly as good.
"It's not like they go down to the bread store and catch it coming out of the oven, but it's good," Howell said. "We've got it good here."

BOISE, Idaho - Being dead since 1940 hasn't kept Idaho U.S. Sen. William Borah from being inserted squarely into 2008 presidential politics after Democratic candidate Barack Obama took issue with President Bush's borrowing of a quote from Borah.
In a speech Thursday to the Israeli Knesset, Bush mentioned the president of Iran, and said: "Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along."
Bush then recalled a comment attributed to Borah in 1939 following Germany's invasion of Poland.
"As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939," Bush told Israeli lawmakers, "an American senator declared: 'Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is — the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."
Obama has said he would pursue talks with Iran without insisting on "preconditions" that could prompt Iranian leaders to spurn the request.
The comments have touched off back-and-forth salvos from the various camps, with Obama lashing out at President Bush and at Republican presidential rival John McCain for "dishonest, divisive" attacks in intimating the Democratic presidential hopeful would be soft on terrorists.
Idaho historians and academics say this business of dusting off Borah's words illustrates the continuing resonance of Idaho's longest-serving U.S. senator, the effectiveness of simple imagery in this blitzkrieg age of 24-hour news and the phenomenon of combining history and hindsight to make a potent political point.
"Trying to draw analogies from the past is something used a lot by political candidates," said Adam Sowards, a history professor at the University of Idaho, where the William Edgar Borah Outlawry of War Foundation was founded in 1929. Sowards adds such efforts often make him cringe.
"There's a common saying, 'History always repeats itself,' " Sowards said. "Historians don't like that saying, because the context is always changing. It's never the exact same situation."
Bush isn't the first to use the comments by Borah, who was himself a contender for president in 1936.
In a Time magazine article in August 2006, writer Brendan Nyhan noted the very same reference had also been used by then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer.
Sowards described Borah as something of an early 20th-century version of McCain for a maverick streak that included not endorsing fellow Republican Herbert Hoover for president in 1932.
In the process, Borah transcended provincial Idaho politics during his six U.S. Senate terms. He spent eight years as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and fought President Woodrow Wilson over the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I and the League of Nation's "entangling alliances" with Europe in the wake of that war.
Knowing today that no amount of talking by British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, Borah or anybody else could have dissuaded Hitler from trying to expand his empire makes for convenient but nonetheless powerful symbolism for politicians like Bush as they attempt to frame the presidential debate on ongoing tensions with Iran.
The Borah reference "got across exactly what he (Bush) wanted to get across," said Bill Smith, director of The Martin Institute for Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution at the University of Idaho, which runs the annual Borah Symposium lecture at the Moscow, Idaho, school.
It makes political sense, but making Borah and his 1939 comments the poster child for foolhardy Nazi appeasement, then connecting the dots to the current presidential race, is a dicey intellectual proposition.
That's because Borah was a complex figure, Smith said a Republican isolationist who supported some of Democratic President Franklin Roosevelt's Depression-era programs.
"Picking a spot in history and saying, 'This is what this guy stands for' is very difficult," Smith said. "Borah, like a lot of historical figures, has different historical legacies. All legacies are complicated."

Last names of Latinos now in Americas top 10!

Step aside Moore and Taylor. Welcome Garcia and Rodriguez.

Smith remains the most common surname in the United States, according to a new analysis released yesterday by the Census Bureau. But for the first time, two Hispanic surnames — Garcia and Rodriguez — are among the top 10 most common in the nation, and Martinez nearly edged out Wilson for 10th place.

The number of Hispanics living in the United States grew by 58 percent in the 1990s to nearly 13 percent of the total population, and cracking the list of top 10 names suggests just how pervasively the Latino migration has permeated everyday American culture.

Garcia moved to No. 8 in 2000, up from No. 18, and Rodriguez jumped to No. 9 from 22nd place. The number of Hispanic surnames among the top 25 doubled, to

All of this is the main reason why most all politicians are afraid to enforce immigration laws. Because they need the hispanic vote in order to stay in office, in order to put food on their table. Even Arnold the Terminator, who will be president someday despite being an immigrant. And never mind the law that says immigrants can't be elected president. In time that law will be changed.

The only way to get the politicians to enforce the immigration laws is if you get them out of office. And you won't do that at the ballot box. Ever. It's too late. And you can thank Ronald Reagan for initiating all of this back in 1984.

Suckas!

McKINNEY, Texas - School officials say they are appalled by altered photos including heads on different bodies in hundreds of McKinney High School yearbooks delivered this week.

Besides the head and body switching, some necks were stretched, one girl's arm was missing and another girl's head was placed on what appeared to be a nude body, with the chest blurred.

A spokeswoman for Minnesota-based Lifetouch National School Studios Inc. said the alterations were "an unfortunate lapse in judgment" by an employee, but she didn't believe it was malicious.

The high school had required Lifetouch to make heads the same size and eyes at the same level in all student photos, company spokeswoman Sara Thurin Rollin said Saturday.

The request was "unusual and definitely very particular, but that's not to suggest what happened here is acceptable," she said.

Rollin declined to say if the company fired or reprimanded the employee who altered the images.

She said Lifetouch is taking full responsibility for the altered pictures, about 30 in all, and will pay to have the publication reprinted before the seniors graduate.

Lori Oglesbee, the school's yearbook adviser at McKinney High School, said the yearbook staff would spend the weekend rebuilding the yearbook.

McKinney is about 20 miles north of Dallas.

Realtors Are Clueless

I am on the go a lot, town to town, living in Hotels doing my job.
You might have seen me on the San Diego, Las Vegas, or San Francisco Boards.

Yep, I am here in Phoenix.
I called a Realtor today, ran their asses all over town showing me houses I will never buy.
What stupid jackasses they are.
But it sure is fun.
Better than sitting around the hotel room all day or hanging out at the bar.
I love jerking these toads chain - Realtors are so stupid, they should all be at there real jobs making me fries and onion rings at Burger King.
These jackasses are still asking sellers to pay 6%, and offering me 1% cash rebate.

On a related note .....
As I was finishing diner I noticed on ABC News that the real estate industry is still spiralling downward and soon will reach proportion of the great depression - Maricopa is now the leader in the nation for foreclosed homes.
Houses that sold for 250,000 18-months ago are now at 107,000 and on their way to the auction block for a probably sale of around 40,000 to 50,000.
Idiot builders, stupid mortgage brokers, corrupt loans officers, and greedy realtors caused this housing crisis, so what I am doing is just some good old American payback.
Everyone should do it - lets have fun, these idiots make it so easy.
YES, I have all ready posted to three other Internet Forums.

Cheaper to Rent than Own

Did the math on the Paul McCartney-Heather Mills divorce. After 5 years of marriage, he paid her $49 million.

Assuming he banged her every night during their 5 year relationship (and being married men, we all know THAT doesn't happen), it ends up costing him $26,849 per lay, not counting attorney's fees and court costs.

On the other hand, Elliot Spitzer's call girl Kristen charges $4,000 an hour. Crazy, right?

But...

Had Paul McCartney employed Kristen for 5 years, he would've paid $7.3 million for an hour of sex every night for 5 years (a savings of $41+million).

Value-added benefits are:
1. A 22 year old hot babe;
2. No begging;
3. No coaxing;
4. Never a headache;
5. Wide open menu;
6. Ability to put BOTH legs around you; and
7. No bitching and complaining or "to do" lists.
8. Best of all, she leaves when you're done, and comes back the next day, ready for another round.

All at 1/7th the cost, with no legal fees.* *

Is it just me, or is Kristen a WAY better deal?

Quotes from Barack Obama's books

In his own words - quotes from Obama's books:

From Dreams of My Father: "I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."

From Dreams of My Father : "I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mothers race."

From Dreams of My Father: "There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white."

From Dreams of My Father: "It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."

From Dreams of My Father: "I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela."

From Audacity of Hope: "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

And more recently...........

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin, presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171:
During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention
facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. "As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides," Obama said. "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be
swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This man does not respect our symbols of pride, freedom and respect.
This man proposes to be the Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces, who fight for our flag, and our veterans who have fought, died and been
maimed over the last 150 years? I suspect that he also does not believe in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag but yet when you see him making a speech on television (like the recent Philadelphia race speech) he is surrounded by a backdrop of 10 or more American flags! But, he likes THOSE props, doesn't he?
You can assume from all this that he is a fake and a hypocrite.
Something is wrong here!
Memphis, TN, is a city on the bluffs of the Mississippi River, just east of Arkansas and north of Mississippi.
Local African American leaders, in opposition to pending white flight and possible erosion of a viable tax base, boycotted all Caucasian owned businesses in the Shelby County area this weekend as a demonstration of their economic impact on the community.
The boycott was declared a success in the African American community, noting that revenue in Caucasian owned businesses was down 19%.
Caucasian business owners declared the boycott a success as well, pointing out that shoplifting was reduced by 77% and street shootings and killings were down about 60%.
Court says money discriminates against blind people.
Anonymous said...
WASHINGTON DC - The U.S. discriminates against blind people by printing paper money that makes it impossible for them to distinguish among the bills' varying values, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday.
The ruling upholds a decision by a lower court in 2006. It could force the Treasury Department to redesign its money. Suggested changes have ranged from making bills different sizes to printing them with raised markings.
The American Council for the Blind sued for such changes but the Treasury Department has been fighting the case for about six years.
"I don't think we should have to rely on people to tell us what our money is," said Mitch Pomerantz, the council's president.
The U.S. acknowledges the design hinders blind people but it argued that blind people have adapted. Some relied on store clerks to help them, some used credit cards and others folded certain corners to help distinguish between bills.
The court ruled 2-1 that such adaptations were insufficient. The government might as well argue that, since handicapped people can crawl on all fours or ask for help from strangers, there's no need to make buildings wheelchair accessible, the court said.
Courts can't decide how to design the currency, since that's up to the Treasury Department. But the ruling forces the department to address what the court called a discriminatory problem.
Pomerantz says it could take years to change the look of money and until then, he expects that similar-looking money will continue to get printed and spent. But since blindness becomes more common with age, people in the 30s and 40s should know that, when they get older, "they will be able to identify their $1 bills from their fives, tens and twenties," he said.
Officials at the Treasury Department and the department's Bureau of Engraving and Printing, which prints the nation's currency, had no immediate comment on the ruling. The government could appeal to the Supreme Court.
While the government has been fighting to overturn the lower court ruling, it has been taking some steps toward modifying U.S. currency for the visually impaired.
The most recent currency redesign of the $5 bill introduced in March features a giant "5" printed in purple on one side of the bill to help those with vision problems distinguish the bill.
The appeals court also ruled that the U.S. failed to explain why changing the money would be an undue burden. The Treasury Department has redesigned its currency several times in recent years, and adding features to aid the blind would come at a relatively small cost, the court said.
Other countries have added such features, the court said, and the U.S. never explained what made its situation so unique.
Who's asses got kicked at the Alamo? It wasn't Americans. The Alamo was defended by a couple hundred TEXANS fighting to establish the NATION of TEXAS. It took 1500 hundred Mexican regular army to defeat a couple hundred Texans.
And now the rest of the story. Not long after another 800 Texans attacked The Mexican Army in what is called the Battle of San Jacinto. They captured or killed 1300 Mexican Army regulars and Santa Anna signed Texas over to the Texans. The battle lasted all of 20 minutes.
Black Hurricanes
Well, it appears our African-American friends have
found yet something else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman, from Florida ,has complained that the names of hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names. She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such as Chamiqua, Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaqueal, and Jamal.I am NOT making this up! She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in Language that street people can understand because one of the problems that happened in New Orleans was, that black people couldn't understand the seriousness of the situation, due to the racially biased language of the weather report.
I can hear it now: A weatherman in Miami and Tampa says...
BEST COMEBACK RESPONSE OF THE YEAR
If you ever testify in court, you might wish you could have been as sharp as this policeman. He was being cross-examined by a defense attorney during a felony trial. The lawyer was trying to undermine the policeman's credibility...
Q: 'Officer -- did you see my client fleeing the scene?'
A: 'No sir. But I subsequently observed a person matching the description of the offender, running several blocks away.'
Q: 'Officer -- who provided this description?'
A: 'The officer who responded to the scene.'
Q: 'A fellow officer provided the description of this so-called offender. Do you trust your fellow officers?'
A: 'Yes, sir. With my life.'
Q: 'With your life? Let me ask you this then officer. Do you have a room where you change your clothes in preparation for your daily duties?'
A: 'Yes sir, we do!'
Q: 'And do you have a locker in the room?'
A: 'Yes sir, I do.'
Q: 'And do you have a lock on your locker?'
A: 'Yes sir.'
Q: 'Now why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow officers with your life, you find it necessary to lock your locker in a room you share with these same officers?'
A: 'You see, sir -- we share the building with the court complex, and sometimes lawyers have been known to walk through that room.'
The courtroom EXPLODED with laughter, and a prompt recess was called. The officer on the stand has been nominated for this year's 'Best Comeback'.
Plan to trim cell phone cancellation fees draws criticism
WASHINGTON DC - A proposal for the government to help cell phone customers avoid expensive fees when they cancel contracts with wireless companies may go down in flames after consumer advocates protested Wednesday it isn't generous enough.
Cell phone companies routinely charge customers $175 or more for quitting their service early. Under a proposal to the Federal Communications Commission, the wireless industry would give consumers the opportunity to cancel service without any penalty for up to 30 days after they sign a cell phone contract or until 10 days after they receive their first bill, among other provisions.
In exchange for the government's approval, the agreement would let cell phone companies off the hook in state courts where they are being sued for billions of dollars by angry customers. If approved by the FCC, the proposal also would take away the authority of states to regulate the charges, known as early termination fees.
The proposal would require companies to reduce fees month by month over the course of a contract based on how long customers have left, according to people familiar with the offer who spoke on condition of anonymity because the FCC has not accepted it. It would not abolish cancellation fees entirely and would not refund such fees to anyone who already paid them.
Consumer advocates warned Wednesday that the industry's offer wasn't good enough.
"If this plan goes through, the nation's largest cell phone carriers get a get-out-of-court-free card," said Chris Murray, senior counsel for Consumers Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports magazine. "We have long opposed limiting consumers' rights to sue, and that seems to be what we're doing here."
Another expert agreed.
"The consumer protections are an inadequate fig leaf to justify federal pre-emption," said Patrick Pearlman, a lawyer with the consumer advocate division of West Virginia's Public Service Commission. "The FCC is not an adequate policeman."
Lawyers representing customers who are suing over the fees also strongly oppose the plan.
"It's Christmas in May for the companies," said Pamela Gilbert, an attorney with Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca, a Washington-based law firm working on one of the class-action lawsuits against the industry. She said if the FCC agreed to the proposal, it would save cell phone companies hundreds of millions of dollars.
"The people left holding the bag are the millions of people who paid illegal ETFs (early termination fees) and now will never get their money back," she said.
The nation's No. 2 wireless company, Verizon Wireless, offered the proposal to the FCC for its review after high-level meetings with senior FCC officials. It did so in consultation with other leading wireless companies, whose executives indicated they would not oppose its provisions, people familiar with the offer told The Associated Press.
The FCC has declined to comment on the proposal.
Consumers who have paid such fees describe them as exorbitant.
"It's ridiculous," said Ric Causey of Allen, Texas, who paid $600 in termination fees to Sprint on contracts for three cell phones after he canceled service because of what he said was poor reception around Dallas.
"I understand the fine print, but I ended up paying $200 per phone just to switch service," Causey said. He complained to executives to no avail. "I never got any satisfaction," he said. "I figured I'd deal with it later, but I never got reimbursed."
Causey, a freelance video producer, said he never imagined refusing to pay the fees out of fear it would hurt his credit rating.
Wireless companies said the cancellation fees are necessary to recover the cost of cell phones, which they subsidize under long-term service contracts, and to defray their costs for signing up new customers. Consumer groups said the fees are unreasonable and intended to discourage customers from switching among providers.
The expensive fees have led to class-action lawsuits in several states and legislative proposals on Capitol Hill and in state legislatures around the country.
The industry's proposal would link cancellation fees to actual costs incurred by a wireless company, and it would require companies to prorate any fees over the course of the contract. Verizon Wireless currently prorates fees down to $60. AT&T Inc. will begin prorating fees Sunday.
The proposal also would prohibit a wireless company from imposing a termination fee on customers who change terms of their contract or end one contract period and begin another.
Verizon Wireless is a joint venture between Verizon Communications Inc. and the Vodafone Group PLC of Britain. Verizon Wireless, with about 66 million subscribers, is second to AT&T Inc., with 70 million customers.
The wireless industry is increasingly worried about a series of long-running, class-action lawsuits in state courts. One lawsuit against Sprint Nextel is under way in California, and plaintiffs in a New York case in arbitration are seeking $1 billion in refunds.
Federal law prohibits states from regulating wireless rates but gives them authority over some terms and conditions under wireless contracts. The industry's Washington lobbying group, CTIA, previously asked the FCC to consider cancellation fees to be rates, which would preclude state governments and courts from any jurisdiction over them.
In September, Sens. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., introduced the Cell Phone Consumer Empowerment Act, which would require prorated fees and a 30-day window for customers to exit a contract.
Honda to roll out cheap new hybrid model in early '09
TOKYO Japan - Honda Motor Co (7267.T) said on Wednesday it would launch a new, low-cost hybrid car in Japan, North America and Europe in early 2009 as it seeks to cut the lead of Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) in the green car race.
Despite the pressure of record-high oil prices and concerns over climate change, fuel-efficient and low-emission hybrids still occupy a small niche in the global car market, partly due to their higher costs for both consumers and automakers.
Japan's top two automakers lead the industry in the fuel-saving technology which runs on both electricity and gasoline, but Toyota has dominated sales with its groundbreaking Prius model, which is only available as a hybrid.
Koichi Ogawa, chief portfolio manager at Daiwa SB Investments, said it was hard to know whether Honda could challenge Toyota's dominance.
"When you say 'hybrid,' the image that really comes to mind is Prius," he said. "Honda is very dependent on the U.S. market, which is shifting towards things like hybrids, and for survival having a hybrid (model) is essential."
By twinning a conventional engine and battery-powered electric motor, hybrids currently add $5,000 or more to comparable gasoline models, a premium Honda Chief Executive Takeo Fukui sees coming down to around $2,000 in the next generation of hybrids.
"It is important to move hybrid vehicles from the current image-oriented stage to the new stage toward full-scale penetration," Fukui told a news conference.
Executive Vice President Koichi Kondo said Honda hoped to price the hybrid-only car under 2 million yen ($19,290).
Honda now only sells one hybrid car -- a gasoline-electric version of the mass-volume Civic sedan which starts at around 2.3 million yen -- after discontinuing its hybrid-only Insight 2-seater in 2006 and a hybrid version of its Accord in 2007.
Honda expects annual sales of 200,000 for the new hybrid. Total hybrid sales, including the Civic hybrid, a new hybrid version of its popular Fit subcompact and a planned sports car based on the CR-Z concept model, are expected to reach 500,000 vehicles a year after 2010, roughly one-tenth of total sales.
FIVE-DOOR, FIVE-SEATER
Announcing other details of the new hybrid-only car for the first time, Honda said the car would be a 5-door, 5-seater similar in design to its sleek FCX Clarity fuel-cell vehicle.
The car would use more compact and lightweight components for the hybrid system and have a new vehicle platform that places the control unit and battery underneath the cargo space.
A new production line for electric motors will be added at Honda's Suzuka factory in western Japan to more than double the production speed and cut costs.
Toyota is also racing to slash production costs for future hybrid cars. It has not disclosed when the third-generation Prius would be ready, although many expect a 2009 launch.
Toyota, the world's biggest automaker, is aiming to achieve annual hybrid sales of 1 million vehicles soon after 2010, also targeting roughly one-tenth of its total sales.
Few other automakers have managed to mass market hybrid cars after Toyota blazed the trail with the first Prius in 1997.
Nissan Motor Co (7201.T), Japan's No.3 automaker, is due to launch its own, in-house developed hybrid car in 2010, the same year General Motors Corp (GM.N) plans to launch its plug-in hybrid, the Chevrolet Volt.
Honda shares ended down 2 percent in a weaker Tokyo market (.N225) and have fallen about 11 percent this year, outperforming Toyota, Nissan and GM, which have fallen 13-24 percent.
MANUFACTURING INNOVATION
At its mid-year news conference, Honda also outlined plans to introduce new manufacturing methods at several Japanese factories to boost efficiency and lower costs.
Honda said it plans to invest about 158 billion yen to make the improvements at two domestic factories, one for engines and the other for cars. The car factory, in Yorii, near Tokyo, is due to start production in 2010.
A new minivehicle factory to be built by subsidiary Yachiyo Industry Co (7298.Q) would also introduce innovations that would help Honda gain low-cost know-how, Honda said.
"Fundamental reform and improving cost competitiveness in the minivehicle market, where cost pressures and customer expectations are very severe, will enable Honda to gain a significant edge in fighting intensifying global competition in future," Fukui said.
Honda, which plans to improve fuel efficiency on bigger cars with clean-diesel technology, expects to sell more than 4.5 million cars and 18 million motorcycles worldwide in 2010. Last year, it sold 3.767 million cars and 13.48 million motorcycles.
LOS ANGELES California - The "Big One," as earthquake scientists imagine it in a detailed, first-of-its-kind script, unzips California's mighty San Andreas Fault north of the Mexican border. In less than two minutes, Los Angeles and its sprawling suburbs are shaking like a bowl of jelly.
The jolt from the 7.8-magnitude temblor lasts for three minutes 15 times longer than the disastrous 1994 Northridge quake.
Water and sewer pipes crack. Power fails. Part of major highways break. Some high-rise steel frame buildings and older concrete and brick structures collapse.
Hospitals are swamped with 50,000 injured as all of Southern California reels from a blow on par with the Sept. 11 attacks and Hurricane Katrina: $200 billion in damage to the economy, and 1,800 dead.
Only about 700 of those people are victims of building collapses. Many others are lost to the 1,600 fires burning across the region too many for firefighters to tackle at once.
A team of about 300 scientists, governments, first responders and industries worked for more than a year to create a realistic crisis scenario that can be used for preparedness, including a statewide drill planned later this year. Published by the U.S. Geological Survey and California Geological Survey, it is to be released Thursday in Washington, D.C.
Researchers caution that it is not a prediction, but the possibility of a major California quake in the next few decades is very real.
Last month, the USGS reported that the Golden State has a 46 percent chance of a 7.5 or larger quake in the next 30 years, and that such a quake probably would hit Southern California. The Northridge quake, which killed 72 people and caused $25 billion in damage, was much smaller at magnitude 6.7.
"We cannot keep on planning for Northridge," said USGS seismologist Lucy Jones. "The science tells that it's not the worst we're going to face."
USGS geophysicist Kenneth Hudnut said scientists wanted to create a plausible narrative and avoided science fiction like the 2004 TV miniseries "10.5" about an Armageddon quake on the West Coast.
"We didn't want to stretch credibility," said Hudnut. "We didn't want to make it a worst-case scenario, but one that would have major consequences."
The figures are based on the assumption that the state takes no continued action to retrofit flimsy buildings or update emergency plans. The projected loss is far less than the magnitude-7.9 killer that caused more than 40,000 deaths last week in western China, in part because California has stricter building code enforcement and retrofit programs.
The scenario is focused on the San Andreas Fault, the 800-mile boundary where the Pacific and North American plates grind against each other. The fault is the source of some of the largest earthquakes in state history, including the monstrous magnitude-7.8 quake that reduced San Francisco to ashes and killed 3,000 people in 1906.
In imagining the next "Big One," scientists considered the section of the San Andreas loaded with the most stored energy and the most primed to break. Most agree it's the southernmost segment, which has not popped since 1690, when it unleashed an estimated 7.7 jolt.
Scientists chose the parameters of the fictional temblor such as its size and length of rupture and ran computer models to simulate ground movement. Engineers calculated the effects of shaking on freeways, buildings, pipelines and other infrastructure. Risk analysts used the data to estimate casualties and damages.
A real quake would yield different results from the scenario, which excludes possibilities such as fierce Santa Ana winds that could whip fires into infernos.
The scenario: The San Andreas Fault suddenly rumbles to life on Nov. 13, 2008, just after morning rush hour. The quake begins north of the U.S.-Mexican border near the Salton Sea and the fault ruptures for about 200 miles in a northwest direction ending near the high desert town of Palmdale about 40 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
Scientists chose the scenario because it would create intense shaking in the Los Angeles Basin and neighboring counties a region with nearly 22 million people.
The scenario will be released at a House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources meeting in Washington.
Here are the major elements:
_10 a.m.: The San Andreas Fault ruptures, sending shock waves racing at 2 miles per second.
_30 seconds later: The agricultural Coachella Valley shakes first. Older buildings crumble. Fires start. Sections of Interstate 10, one of the nation's major east-west corridors, break apart.
_1 minute later: Interstate 15, a key north-south route, is severed in places. Rail lines break; a train derails. Tremors hit burgeoning Riverside and San Bernardino counties east of Los Angeles.
_1 minute, 30 seconds later: Shock waves advance toward the Los Angeles Basin, shaking it violently for 55 seconds.
_2 minutes later: The rupture stops near Palmdale, but waves march north toward coastal Santa Barbara and into the Central Valley city of Bakersfield.
_30 minutes later: Emergency responders begin to fan across the region. A magnitude-7 aftershock hits, but sends its energy south into Mexico. Several more big aftershocks will hit in following days and months.
Major fires following the quake would cause the most damage, said Keith Porter, of the University of Colorado, Boulder, who studied physical damage for the scenario.
The quake would likely spark 1,600 fires that would destroy 200 million square feet of housing and residential properties worth between $40 billion and $100 billion, according to the scenario.
Once the shaking stops, emergency responders would do a "windshield survey" that involves rolling through neighborhoods to tally damage and identify areas of greatest need, said Larry Collins, captain of the Urban Search & Rescue Task Force at the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Collins said the scale of the disaster means firefighters would not be able to put out every flame.
"We're going to have to think about out-of-the-box solutions," he said.
The Upside is.......
we will have a lot of dead Liberals and Mexicans!
I just bought a pair of shades on ebay and payed with paypal. The fucking assholes double paid the seller for the item (two separate payments). Then I call customer service and get someone in China that tells me that she will have to contact the seller and get them to reimburse the second payment and that it would take 3-4 days for me to get my money back. I inform her that this was not good enough as it was their mistake I want my money back now. She says the same thing she said before so I then ask for a supervisor thinking they would have the authority to override and give my money back. he comes on and tells me "first of all I just want to inform you that we will not be able to reverse the charges today". I say that it is your companies fault and I want my money back now, he then says that I am lying as he does not believe that the mistake was on their end. So at this point I am getting irate and said that i want to speak to his damn supervisor. He then threatened to hang up on me for using the word damn they refused to give me his supervisor then hung up on me. So then I just contacted my bank and put a stop payment on one of the two times they paid for my shades. The bank says the charge has not come through yet so it should be ok with the stop payment. Either way, I hate fucking paypal as they are ran by a bunch of greedy assholes. Paypal board of directors may you all die horrible deaths and rot in hell for all your dirty business tactics!
Immigrants flee South Africa over attacks
JOHANNESBURG SA (on the tip of the African content) - More than 10,000 Mozambicans have fled home from South Africa to escape xenophobic attacks that have killed at least 42 people, officials in the neighboring country said on Wednesday.
Air force helicopters were deployed to back up South African police in Johannesburg's Alexandra township after President Thabo Mbeki called for army intervention to help end unrest that has threatened to destabilize Africa's largest economy.
A top leader of the ruling ANC criticized police for reacting too slowly to 11 days of attacks on African migrants, which have driven at least 15,000 people from their homes and prompted thousands to return to their countries.
"10,047 returned home in buses provided by the government, the number is likely to increase in the next days as long as violence unfolds in South Africa," Mozambique's Deputy Immigration Director Leonardo Boby told Reuters in Maputo.
The armed mobs accuse the African immigrants of stealing jobs and fuelling crime. Several people have been burned to death and scores of shacks looted and torched. Most of the immigrants are from Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
The deputy leader of the ruling African National Congress, which ousted Mbeki as party leader in December, criticized the police delay in responding to the violence which erupted in Alexandra township on May 11 and spread rapidly.
"The delay encouraged people in similar environments to wage similar attacks against people who came from our sister countries on the continent," Kgalema Motlanthe said at an international media industry conference in Johannesburg.
"We are confronted by one of the ugliest incidents in the post-apartheid era," said.
Motlanthe said the violence was an assault on the values of South Africa's democratic society. He is a close ally of ANC leader Jacob Zuma, who defeated Mbeki for the party leadership.
INSTABILITY
The attacks on African migrants have increased political instability at a time of power shortages and disaffection over Mbeki's pro-business policies. Soaring food and fuel prices helped push tensions to breaking point.
The South African currency fell sharply earlier this week on the back of the violence. The rand was slightly firmer on Thursday at 7.7235 to the U.S. dollar.
The biggest group of immigrants come from Zimbabwe. An estimated three million have fled economic collapse at home.
Zimbabwe's opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai visited Alexandra on Thursday and met with Zimbabweans sheltering at the police station there.
"We do understand the problems you are facing and in fact we are shocked by the plight of men and women who have left their countries," Tsvangirai said, adding that the violence was linked to his country's political crisis.
One refugee said he was considering going home despite the fact that in Zimbabwe he would have to face hyperinflation, shortages of food and an upsurge of political violence since disputed March 29 elections.
"I am thinking of going back to Zimbabwe, I'm too scared," said Samuel Dhliwayo, a 30-year-old Zimbabwean who worked as a painter.
South Africa has a population of about 50 million and is home to an estimated 5 million immigrants.
Its reputation as a haven for immigrants and asylum seekers is in tatters, and there are growing fears that the crisis could dent the country's lucrative tourism industry and cripple its hosting of the 2010 soccer World Cup.
ID-protection ads come back to bite pitchman
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Todd Davis has dared criminals for two years to try stealing his identity: Ads for his fraud-prevention company, LifeLock, even offer his Social Security number next to his smiling mug.
Now, Lifelock customers in Maryland, New Jersey and West Virginia are suing Davis, claiming his service didn't work as promised and he knew it wouldn't, because the service had failed even him.
Attorney David Paris said he found records of other people applying for or receiving driver's licenses at least 20 times using Davis' Social Security number, though some of the applications may have been rejected because data in them didn't match what the Social Security Administration had on file.
Davis acknowledged in an interview with The Associated Press that his stunt has led to at least 87 instances in which people have tried to steal his identity, and one succeeded: a guy in Texas who duped an online payday loan operation last year into giving him $500 using Davis' Social Security number.
Paris said the fact Davis' records were compromised at all supports the claim that Tempe, Ariz.-based LifeLock doesn't provide the comprehensive protection its advertisements say it does.
"It's further evidence of the ineffectiveness of the services that LifeLock advertises," said Paris, who is lead attorney on the three new lawsuits, the latest of which was filed this month.
Davis learned about the fraud in Texas when the payday-loan outfit called to collect on the loan, he said. He didn't get an alert beforehand because the company didn't go through one of the three major credit bureaus before approving the transaction.
Davis said it's possible driver's licenses have been issued to other people in his name because of the widespread availability of his personal information and because of what he described as the flimsy mechanisms in place to report that kind of fraud.
Paris noted that LifeLock charges $10 a month to set fraud alerts with credit bureaus, even though consumers can do it themselves for free.
But Davis stands by his company and his advertising gimmick, which has appeared in newspapers and on billboards, radio and MTV. He even broadcasts it by bullhorn on walking tours through crowded downtowns.
"There's nothing on my actual credit report about uncollected funds, no outstanding tickets or warrants or anything," he said. "There's nothing to indicate my identity has been successfully compromised other than the one instance. I know I'm taking a slightly higher risk. But I'll take my risk for the tremendous benefit we're bringing to society and to consumers."
The lawsuits, for which Paris is seeking class-action status, highlight the fundamental limits on how much security identity-theft companies can provide.
Companies like LifeLock can help guard against only certain types of financial fraud by helping consumers set up alerts with credit bureaus, which inform them when someone tries to open a new line of credit or boost their credit limit to finance a buying binge, for example.
The services don't guard against many types of identity theft such as use of a stolen Social Security number on a job application or for medical services, or even the instance of an arrestee giving police a stolen Social Security number to shield his own identity.
LifeLock is also being sued in Arizona over its $1 million service guarantee, which the plaintiffs claim is misleading because it only covers a defect in LifeLock's service, and in California by the Experian credit bureau. Experian accuses LifeLock of deceiving consumers about the breadth of its protection and abusing the system for attaching fraud alerts to credit reports.
Security experts say complaints about the company reinforce the time-honored wisdom of keeping your Social Security number secret.
"There's been a lot of marketing, a lot of hype about LifeLock," said Paul Stephens, director of policy and advocacy with the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, a nonprofit consumer advocacy organization. "The question is, 'How much protection does it really buy you?'"
"There is no company that can guarantee they can protect you (completely) against identity theft," Stephens said. "Absolutely nobody can do that."
Solution to Gasoline/illegal immigrant crossing the border
Solution to Save Gasoline/illegal immigrant crossing the border:
The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants!
That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down.....
Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the Border....
When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo
and ship him to Iraq ...
Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military....
Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it....
After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country.....
He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot.....
This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves.. .
If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo.....
Problem solved.....
Mom sentenced to 20 years for keeping son in cage
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A mother was sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday for keeping her 17-year-old adopted son caged in her home.
Brenda Sullivan pleaded guilty in January to three counts of aggravated child abuse. Prosecutors agreed to drop lesser child neglect charges.
The teen weighed 49 pounds when child welfare workers found him in 2005 in what appeared to be a cage. Sullivan told a judge at the time that Ohio authorities told her to keep the boy, who had severe medical and emotional problems, in a crib.
"There's only one conclusion when you look at the medical evidence in this case, and that is that she literally starved him," prosecutor Julie Schlax said.
Two other children, 13-year-old twins the Sullivans adopted as infants, both testified they were kept in similar cages.
Sullivan's husband was also arrested, but died in January 2007 while awaiting trial.
Sullivan's lawyer, Charles Fletcher, said he didn't think prison was the right option because she does not pose a threat to society. He said they would appeal the sentence.
Road rules: 1 in 6 drivers would flunk
A new study says about 33 million American motorists would not be able to get a license if they had to take a written test.
About one in six U.S. drivers wouldn't be able to pass a written driving test if they took it today, according to a new study.
The 2008 GMAC Insurance National Drivers Test found that 16.4%, of drivers, or 33 million, don't know the rules of the road.
The survey presented 5,524 drivers from all 50 states with 20 questions derived from official Department of Motor Vehicle tests. Among the main sticking points were what to do when approaching a yellow light, and the safe distance to maintain behind another car.
Overall, the national average score grew slightly to 78.1% from 77.1% in 2007, but scores varied based on driver demographic and geography.
The study found that drivers over the age of 35 were more likely to pass, and women were more likely to fail than men.
Drivers in the Northeast continued to have the lowest scores and the highest failure rates, with New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia maintaining their three-year streak in the bottom five rankings. Drivers from the Midwest had the highest scores and the lowest failure rate, with Kansas taking the top spot this year from Idaho.
"It's encouraging to see that scores are beginning to get better, but there is still a lot of room for improvement," Wade Bontrager, GMAC Insurance's vice president of marketing said in a statement.
Some of the bright spots showed that nearly all of the test-takers knew how to respond to an emergency vehicle with flashing lights, what to do when hydroplaning, and how to interpret a solid yellow line.
Viagra will soon be available in liquid form
Pfizer Corp. announced
today that Viagra will soon be available in liquid form, and will be marketed
by Pepsi Cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer. It will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one.
Obviously we can no longer call this a soft drink, and it gives new meaning to the names of 'cocktails', 'highballs' and just a good old-fashioned 'stiff drink'. Pepsi will market the new concoction by the name of: MOUNT & DO. <
Thought for the day:
There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.
Parents try to sell baby on eBay
BERLIN, Germany-Authorities in southern Germany said Saturday that they have taken custody of a 7-month-old boy after his parents posted an ad on eBay offering to sell him for one euro, the equivalent of $1.57.
Peter Hieber, a spokesman for police in the Bavarian town of Krumbach, said the baby was placed in the care of youth services in the southwestern Allgaeu region, although the child's 23-year-old mother insisted that the ad was only a joke.
Authorities have launched an investigation into possible child trafficking against the baby's mother and 24-year-old father, neither of whom was identified.
"Offering my nearly new baby for sale, as it has gotten too loud. It is a male baby, nearly 28 inches (70 cm) long and can be used either in a baby carrier or a stroller," police quoted the ad as reading.
No offers were made for the child in the two hours and 30 minutes the ad was posted on Tuesday. EBay later deleted the posting but assisted police in tracking down the parents.
Several people who saw the ad alerted police.
SAY GOODBYE TO HERSHEY
A sad story for those of us who remember growing up with Hershey bars, and just as sad for the generations of today. What will be outsourced next?
Pennsylvania is a big state, but it amazes me in this day how some news doesn't make it over the mountain to the front page of our papers or the top of our news hours in Western Pennsylvania.
Milton Hershey, this year, will be joining H. J. Heinz in rolling over in his grave. Hershey Chocolate is moving to MEXICO... whoopee!
They're even closing down Hershey Canada. By the way, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are my favorite and they are made by Hershey.
M.S. Hershey had a dream... I will buy my OWN sugar, milk, cocoa beans, (all natural mind you!) and make candy... (no tariffs etc.)
Even during the depression... He and the Company made money...
Thank you M.S. Hershey for all the things I have and all you have done for me and my family. 'I' do appreciate it...as for 'Dick' Lenny and Company, good luck you greedy, money loving S.O.B.'s
You are ruining the name, the company, and MANY lives in central Pennsylvania
So Hershey executives are closing plants in the US, laying off over a thousand people and destroying Mr. Hershey's dream, all to cut labor, material costs and AVOID PAYING ANY US TAXES!
The company will save about $170 million a year. The top executives will still make their mega bucks and the laid off workers will have to find other jobs, some probably at minimum wage due to their age. All this to take their jobs to India, China and Mexico. These countries are no doubt laughing at the Americans.
Environmentally Friendly Bombs Planned
New explosives could be more powerful and safer to handle than TNT and other conventional explosives and would also be more environmentally friendly.
TNT, RDX and other explosives commonly used in military and industrial applications often generate toxic gases upon detonation that pollute the environment. Moreover, the explosives themselves are toxic and can find their way into the environment due to incomplete detonation and as unexploded ordnance. They are also extremely dangerous to handle, as they are highly sensitive to physical shock, such as hard impacts and electric sparks.
To make safer, more environmentally friendly explosives, scientists in Germany turned to a recently explored class of materials called tetrazoles. These derive most of their explosive energy from nitrogen instead of carbon as TNT and others do.
Tiny bombs were made from two promising tetrazoles with the alphabet-soup names of HBT and G2ZT. These materials proved less apt to explode accidentally than conventional explosives.
After the bombs were detonated in the laboratory, G2ZT also proved as powerful than TNT, and HBT more powerful than TNT and comparable to RDX, said researcher Thomas Klapötke, a chemist at the University of Munich in Germany.
In initial experiments, G2ZT and HBT produced fewer toxic byproducts than common explosives. Still, they did generate some dangerous hydrogen cyanide gas. But mixing these compounds with oxidizers not only avoids making hydrogen cyanide, but also improved performance, Klapötke said.
These compounds have great potential, "especially for large caliber naval and tank guns," Klapötke added.
Klapötke and his colleague Carles Miró Sabate are scheduled to detail their findings in the June 24 issue of the journal Chemistry of Materials.
The research was financially supported by the Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich, the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie, the European Research Office of the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, the U.S. Army's Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center, and the Bundeswehr Research Institute for Materials, Explosives, Fuels and Lubricants.
Navy Tests Incredible Sci-Fi Weapon
The U.S. Navy yesterday test fired an incredibly powerful new big gun designed to replace conventional weaponry aboard ships. Sci-fi fans will recognize its awesome power and futuristic technology.
The big gun uses electromagnetic energy instead of explosive chemical propellants to fire a projectile farther and faster. The railgun, as it is called, will ultimately fire a projectile more than 230 miles (370 kilometers) with a muzzle velocity seven times the speed of sound (Mach 7) and a velocity of Mach 5 at impact.
The test-firing, captured on video, took place Jan. 31 in Dahlgren, Va., and Navy officials called it the "world's most powerful electromagnetic railgun."
The Navy's current MK 45 five-inch gun, by contrast, has a range of less than 23 miles (37 kilometers).
The railgun has been a featured weapon in many science fiction universes, such as the new "Battlestar Galactica" series. It has also achieved newfound popularity among the 20-something-and-under generation for its devastating ability to instantaneously shoot a "slug" through walls and through multiple enemies in video games such as the "Quake" series of first person shooters.
The Navy's motivation? Simple destruction.
The railgun's high-velocity projectile will destroy targets with sheer kinetic energy rather than with conventional explosives.
"I never ever want to see a Sailor or Marine in a fair fight. I always want them to have the advantage," said Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Gary Roughead. "We should never lose sight of always looking for the next big thing, always looking to make our capability better, more effective than what anyone else can put on the battlefield."
The railgun's lack of explosives means ships would be safer, said Elizabeth D'Andrea, Electromagnetic Railgun Program Manager.
The Navy's goal is to demonstrate a full-capability prototype by 2018.
Rambo Granny
The Rambo Granny of Melbourne , Australia
Gun-toting granny Ava Estelle, 81, was so ticked-off when two thugs raped her 18-year-old granddaughter
that she tracked the unsuspecting ex-cons down - and shot off their testicles.
The old lady spent a week hunting those men down -
and, when she found them, she took revenge o n them in her own special way,
said Melbourne police investigator Evan Delp.
Then she took a taxi to the nearest police station,
laid the gun on the sergeant's desk
and told him as calm as could be:
"Those bastards will never rape anybody again, by God."
Cops say convicted rapist and robber Davis Furth , 33, lost both his penis and his testicles
when outraged Ava opened fire with a 9-mm pistol in the hotel room
where he and former prison cell mate Stanley Thomas, 29, were holed up.
The wrinkled avenger also blew Thomas' testicles to kingdom come,
but doctors managed to save his mangled penis, police said.
"The one guy, Thomas, didn't lose his manhood,
"but the doctor I talked to said he won't be using it the way he used to,"
Detective Delp told reporters.
"Both men are still in pretty bad shape,
"but I think they're just happy to be alive after what they've been through."
The Rambo Granny swung into action August 21
after her granddaughter Debbie was carjacked and raped in broad daylight
by two knife-wielding creeps in a section of town bordering on skid row.
"When I saw the look on my Debbie's face that night in the hospital,
"I decided I was going to go out and get those bastards myself
"'cause I figured the Law would go easy on them," recalled the retired library worker.
"And I wasn't scared of them, either - because I've got me a gun and I've been shootin' all my life.
"And I wasn't dumb enough to turn it in when the law changed about owning one."
So, using a police artist's sketch of the suspects and Debbie's description of the sickos,
tough-as-nails Ava spent seven days prowling the wino-infested neighborhood where the crime took place
till she spotted the ill-fated rapists entering their flophouse hotel.
"I knew it was them the minute I saw'em, but I shot a picture of 'em anyway
"and took it back to Debbie and she said sure as hell, it was them," the oldster recalled.
"So I went back to that hotel and found their room and knocked on the door,
"and the minute the big one opened the door, I shot 'em right square between the legs,
"right where it would really hurt 'em most, you know.
"Then I went in and shot the other one
"as he backed up pleading to me to spare him.
"Then I went down to the police station and turned myself in."
Now, baffled lawmen are trying to figure out exactly how to deal with the vigilante granny.
"What she did was wrong, and she broke the law, but it is difficult to throw an 81-year-old woman in prison," Det. Delp said,
"especially when 3 million people in the city want to nominate her for Mayor."
We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a 'real' man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.
When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:
Routine...
(1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill.
Here comes the important part:
(4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
More routine....
(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.
Important again:
(7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.
More routine....
(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
And most important of all:
(10) Everyone PRAISES and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed 'her night off.' And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women....
9 WORDS WOMEN USE
(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').
(8) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying F**K YOU!
(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.
NEW ELEMENT FOUND
The recent hurricanes and gasoline issues are proof of the existence of
a new chemical element. A major research institution has recently announced
the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science.
The new element has been named Governmentium.
Governmentium (Gv) has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy
neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of
312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are
surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.
Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be
detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into
contact. A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would
normally take less than a second, to take over four days to complete.
Governmentium has a normal half-life of 4 years; It does not decay, but
instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant
neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's Mass
will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more
morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.
This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe
that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical
concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical
morass. When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium -
an element which radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has
half as many peons but twice as many morons.
